BioBlitz! OK 2020

What is BioBlitz! OK?

BioBlitz! is a celebration of Oklahoma’s biodiversity.  Each fall expert biologists and citizen scientists come together at an Oklahoma natural area to count as many species as possible over one weekend!  This year is a little different – we will be spread across the state.  But we will still have 100s of people exploring the mountains and grasslands, forests and wetlands looking for our state’s amazing biodiversity.

Sign Up Now!

BioBlitz! OK 2020 registration is free!  Everyone that signs up will receive a weather-resistant sticker commemorating this 20th BioBlitz! OK!  This sticker is perfect for laptops, water bottles, and bumpers!  Registrants will also receive regular updates about BioBlitz! weekend.

Join our BioBlitz! OK Community Facebook page!

The Inventory

The inventory will run from Friday October 2, 12:01 a.m. to Sunday October 4, 11:59 p.m.  So you have 3 full days to explore Oklahoma’s biodiversity!

Use iNaturalist to submit your observations of all living things.  You can upload photos or audio recordings.  You can submit images of signs of organisms too – tracks, scat, nests, etc…

You can also use eBird to make bird checklists and submit those to our inventory.

All observations must be made within the time frame above, but you will have a few days after the inventory ends to submit all your records.

Oklahoma State Parks – you will need a Parking Pass to visit some Oklahoma State Parks

Wildlife Management Areas – you must have a fishing or hunting license or a conservation passport to visit an ODWC owned WMA (purchase license or passport)

Camping fees will not be covered by your free BioBlitz! OK 2020 registration.  Be aware that camping at Oklahoma State Parks now requires online reservations.  Make reservations on any park webpage.

You may find the Oklahoma State Parks app to be handy too!
