BioBlitz! Oklahoma – October 11-13, 2013 – Camp Simpson, Johnston County

403 Expert Biologists and Citizen Scientists counted at least 977 species at BioBlitz! 2013. Migrating birds boosted the bird count. Bee experts, Victor Gonzales and Don Rolf, found over 20 species of bees. A rainy summer produced abundant wildflowers and grasses. Recent precipitation enhanced fungal growth and increased the number of species found. The variety of aquatic habitats led to good counts for both algae and fish. And the variety of habitats in combination with the warm afternoon helped to raise the reptile and amphibian count to 26 species.
