Geographical ecology focuses on the spatial distributions of plants and animals at a variety of scales. Through a combination of ecology, evolution, biogeography, and landscape ecology, the Oklahoma Biological Survey is engaged in research to describe and explain the distribution of biota throughout the state and beyond. With both physical and virtual biodiversity repositories, such as the Bebb Herbarium and Oklahoma Natural Heritage Inventory, the Oklahoma Biological Survey collects, maintains, and circulates information pertaining to the spatial distributions of Oklahoma’s biota.
